If you let your past circumstances define you, you are crippling yourself and allowing the enemy to strip you of the amazing things that God has planned for you.
Our identity can cripple us or it can empower us. Putting Jesus first in your finances is one of the best ways to live out your faith ( Malachi 3:10). God promises to show His faithfulness to us when we give. The Bible is very clear that believers are to give 10 percent to the local church. If we are focused on earning what we’ve already been given, we won’t have time to focus on our relationship with Christ ( Luke 10:38-42). Satan loves for us to be busy, and if we buy into the lie that we have to earn grace, we usually end up in a lifestyle of stress and business. As Christians, we should always be growing and changing and learning more about our Lord because growing people change ( Romans 11:33). If you don’t feel like God is teaching you something right now, then start asking Him for your next step. Change is too hard, so just stay the same.įollowing Jesus is all about taking next steps. We were called to freedom in the forgiveness of Christ, but we must fight to use that freedom for the glory of the Lord ( Galatians 5:13).
It’s easy to forget that we are in a war and consequently be passive about the weapons of the enemy (sin) but you can bet that the enemy isn’t being passive about taking us down. You can be passive about sin because it’s not that big of a deal. When faced with a problem, is your first thought “How do I fix this?” or “Lord, I need Your help"? Satan loves it when our trust is in ourselves and not our Lord because if we truly believed in the might of God, we would be much more formidable opponents ( Ephesians 6:10-12).
